Skaggs Jasper Heavy Signet Ring - Size 6.25
Skaggs Jasper Heavy Signet Ring - Size 6.25
This rectangular signet ring design was originally carved in wax, then cast in solid sterling silver. The silver is carefully inlayed with a unique piece of rare Skaggs Jasper that I personally dug up in southern Oregon a few years summers ago. Here’s a fun little video from that particuylar mining trip: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvuzAcqLvNM/
The stone is polished to be smooth and shiny, and it sits just above the silver setting, which is a design element that enhances the overall masculine, chunky feel of this piece. This design is heavy, solid sterling silver and the weight of it feels very soothing when it’s on your finger. While it can be worn on any person and any finger you’d like, I’m particularly fond of this ring on a man’s pinky or a woman’s pointer finger.
This ring is size 6.25, and cannot be re-sized at this time. One of a kind and ready to ship.
Skaggs Jasper is believed to possess energetic properties primarily focused on grounding, stability and protection, with a particular emphasis on promoting emotional resilience and inner strength due to it’s vibrant color patterns and connection to the root chakra;it is often considered a stone for overcoming challenges and fostering a sense of security in times of change or uncertainty.
A bit about the history and meaning of a signet ring:
The signet ring was initially a seal for authentication in early societies, later bearing unique engravings like family crests. Originally only for royals, by the 13th century, they became accessible to all citizens retaining their role in signing papers. Over time, they transitioned from essential tools to decorative symbols of heritage. Today, signet rings mark special occasions and serve as cherished family heirlooms, although they’re no longer used for legal signatures. The historical meaning of “signet” is that of “a small seal.” This engraved jewelry was used for sealing papers, letters, and important documents by the upper echelons of society. Because of this, signet rings were often referred to as “gentlemen's rings”.
In current times, the purpose and meaning of a signet ring has changed. A signet ring is often given as a coming of age gift, at either 18 or 21, symbolizing a moment in a person’s life. Signets are also given as a gift to commemorate one’s graduation, promotion, milestone birthday etc..
