Yuba Granite Spike Danglers
Yuba Granite Spike Danglers
Historically, some of my work has been inspired by ancient battle gear and weaponry. This spike design was inspired by the concept of medieval spike pits and spears, as well as a desire to create a stone setting with minimal silver.
These earrings were also created in the spirit of scrappiness and sustainability. I hand-carved each of these spikes from scraps of Granite from The Yuba River that I had leftover from other projects. For the chain links, I used small lengths of previously discarded silver that I had leftover from other projects. I just love being able to create something beautiful and elegant out of scraps :)
From the hooks to the tip of the spikes, these danglers reach about 3” long. I find them quite easy, comfortable and fun to wear, so I made myself a pair as well.
Al silver used is either .925 sterling or .999 fines silver. One-of-a-kind and ready to ship.
A percentage of the profits from each piece in The Yuba Collection will be donated to either South Yuba River Citizen’s League or California Heritage Indigenous Research Project.
